Benefits of Participation
Winners of the BlueTech Competition will be recognized at the prestigious European Maritime Day in Cork, Ireland, taking place from May 21-23, 2025. Additionally, top projects will receive:
- Travel Coverage: All travel expenses for three team members and one teacher to the event will be sponsored by WavEC.
- Research Center Access: Awarded teams will enjoy exclusive visits to local research centers and science facilities to gain deeper insights into blue technologies.
- Mentorship Opportunities: Top projects will also be paired with industry professionals for one-on-one mentorship sessions, providing guidance and support in the blue tech and environmental sectors.
Expectations of Participants
Participating teams are expected to demonstrate:
- Creativity and scientific rigor in their projects.
- Collaboration and communication within the team and with external partners.
- A commitment to community engagement by disseminating their findings and solutions to the public.
Teams must consist of a maximum of five students, be gender-diverse, and include a teacher or tutor who can support their endeavors. Each tutor can oversee a maximum of three teams, fostering a collaborative environment of learning and innovation.
Tips for a Successful Application
- Team Dynamics: Ensure your team is diverse and utilizes each member’s strengths effectively. Assign specific roles and responsibilities to maximize efficiency in project execution.
- Research and Partnerships: Actively seek partnerships with universities, polytechnic institutes, or companies that can provide technical or scientific support to enhance the credibility and feasibility of your project.
- Clear Presentations: Your video presentation should be engaging and succinct. Clearly outline your project’s objectives and roles in under three minutes. Subtitles in English are recommended for videos in your native language.
- Detail Your Submission: In your Technical Presentation Document, be sure to explain your scientific goals with clarity. Include visuals where possible to provide a better understanding of your project.
- Focus on Evaluation Criteria: Familiarize yourself with the evaluation criteria outlined in the Terms and Conditions document. Tailor your project to address these aspects effectively, emphasizing scientific value, creativity, and community impact.
- Review and Revise: Before submitting, review your application thoroughly. Feedback from peers or mentors can provide invaluable insights and help elevate your submission.
