The One Ocean Science Congress, organized by CNRS and INSTITUT FRANCAIS DE RECHERCHE POUR L’EXPLOITATION DE LA MER – IFREMER and endorsed by the #OceanDecade, will be held in Nice, France, from 3 to 6 June 2025 as a Special Event serving as the scientific foundation of the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference (#UNOC3).

The Congress aims to provide Heads of State, government officials, and the broader community with essential scientific insights regarding the health, dynamics, and future trajectory of the ocean, emphasizing conservation, sustainable use, and the invaluable services the ocean provides to humanity.

Commitment & Responsibilities:

Volunteers must be available from June 2 through June 6, 2025. Responsibilities will include:

  • Registration Desk Management: Assist attendees in picking up name badges and directing them to the necessary areas.
  • Event Operations Support: Help with setting up hospitality rooms and managing poster boards.
  • Crowd Management: Aid in guiding attendees and managing overcrowded areas as required.
  • Waste Management: Ensure effective waste disposal, particularly during meal times.
  • Technical Assistance: Support the technical team in setting up equipment, including microphones and audiovisual tools.
  • Information Provision: Provide general information to participants, assist with directions, and communicate event schedules and services.
  • Distribution Tasks: Handle the distribution of lunch boxes and water bottles during the event.

Ideal Volunteer Profile:

  • A strong command of English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Professional demeanor with an emphasis on punctuality and organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
